is it really co-incidence or copying?

while reading an article about m.t.vasudean Nair(MT), i came across his movie"Oru cheru Punchiri".it goes like this:

His last movie, “Oru Cheru Punchiri”, was made in 2000. MT gave me the gist of the story. It is about the life of an old couple, who live all by themselves. They have frequent quarrels, but are like two parts of one whole. Only a small boy comes to take tuition from the man. In one scene, the old man climbs up the attic and finds a lot of junk. The wife, when asked why they shouldn’t be thrown out, says they are meant to burn his corpse, since that is the only purpose they can serve. Then she removes the ladder, leaving the man fuming, sweating and swearing in the attic. The old woman whispers to the boy that the fellow is fond of gorging himself with sweets. Later, she goes on to feed her husband his choicest foods. Finally the man dies. The old woman continues to live there and refuses to leave what was her “home” for decades. She feels her man’s presence in that house, even after his death.

This film got rave reviews in several places, including the London and Munich film festivals. It was the first film for the female lead. “I missed the London event, but attended the Munich festival. The hall was packed. At the end of the screening, the organisers gave just 15 minutes for interaction. There were many questions — some very intelligent and insightful. But then, when I told them that the characters were based on real life, one old lady got up and asked, ‘Do they still have sex?’ I gathered my wits in a few seconds and replied, ‘That’s something I have to ask them’. You can’t think of anyone in India posing such a question,” he remarks with a chuckle.

it really reminded me about the story Sri-Ramana has written in Rachana or some other magazine around 1990's(95-99).i just donot know whether this one is based on Ramana's story or not.so i searched for this on web and found the info....Yahoooo....its based on the story by Sri-Ramana...

I really enjoyed the story in its andhra(not telangana,andhra division, i know only one andhra,that is the andhrapradesh where people speak Telugu)backdrop,with the small village, house,the old couple and their sarasaalu(flirtations)...i donot know how they made it in the movie...that too in Malayalam by MT...

But, i never know how the movie is as i donot know how i can get this movie...

at least i am glad that someone like MT sir made a movie based on this story...
